Dusks
Dusks are a slightly new type of creature found in Gierra, that had gone extinct around 20 years before the game takes place. Their big, vicious, and their not even wolves! They just seem to be in a class all their own...here are some visual examples.
This is a simple side view of a Dusk's structure. They pretty much look EXACTLY like wolves yet some things set them apart from the rest. One thing is that their tails are longer, yet less fluffy than the rest of their bodies. The tufts of fur on their cheeks can vary from normal (as seen above) to that of a bobcat's.
The image above however, is a female. The males have much thicker pelts and the fur around their necks can grow almost into what looks like a mane.
All Dusks have narrow eyes that helps them see better in sunny or severe weather (IE:blizzards or sandstorms), and strong limbs so they can safely navigate through their home in the mountains.

The picture isn't very good but when you put all the facts together, dusks resemble big cats more than canines. Their walk cycle is another piece of evidence. Much like a lion, when a dusk walks, one shoulder lifts, while the other slumps down.

One a slightly different note, dusks never hunt near their home in the mountains. They take the trip down to the forest then carry whatever they catch back up. Because of there large pack numbers, often ranging from 10 to 100, they have special hunts that only take place every month or so, it has happened so many times, that the other animals have started to call them storms because of the grey, rainy weather that comes with them, so the animals can easily sense them coming. But these creatures aren't looking for deer or rabbits...their searching for wolves.
The dusks will split up into about 3 groups and sneak into a pack's territory, then they kill any patrols that are out there, only leaving behind some bones if your lucky, because most of the time, no traces will ever be left behind.
The best option is to be alone during a storm because they most often only attack groups..sometimes.
