Why am I doing this story first??? XD I couldn't get it off of my mind so I went ahead and started typing it. It'll also help me type everyone else's story because they're all connected ;D I'm trying my best to get the plot out of my head so this'll be updated every day or so. Onto the story!
4/4/2013: This update was late I really know but I just couldn't figure out where to start the first chapter. Oh yeah, and since this story takes place in "Early Gierra" The sunrise pack's camp isn't in the crater thing yet, they still need to move there. Now enjoy the few sentences I typed while i sort out some timing problems!
(Did you know in microsoft word this is only three pages? )
4/27 authors note: This update took me forever U_U It also took me a few days to decide if I should wait until I write more or just upload what I have. I just chose the second choice. The next update hopefully won't be as long. I need to get some creative writing skills :I
PS: Don't mind me if i made a few errors that contradict the facts I stated in previous topics. I'm still getting used to the new canon design of the world T_T let me know if I slipped up somewhere. Oh yeah, NEVER use Ctrl Z as a undo button when typing, there's a chance it'll cut everything >_<
Snake’s story part 1 (ヘビの話パート1)
Prologue
Far out in the land of Gierra, there was a long mountain range full of tall fir trees, vast forests, rocky plateaus, deep valleys and endless plains; this place was call Midnight Mountain, because of the beautiful view of the night sky and the many stars that could be seen. Dark creatures often made the place their home but the mountain’s grace was never harmed by the creatures that lived there because their rulers gave them permission to stay, as long as they didn’t use their powers to devastate the land. These rulers, were called Dusks. Dusks were most commonly described as a giant wolf with the mane of a lion, the strength of a bear, the persistence of a cheetah, and a roar like thunder. They traveled in large packs of 10 or in some stories, hundreds, and were very territorial and protective of their homeland. Other animals became jealous of the Dusk’s expansive land and demanded that it be shared with everyone else; out of greed, they refused and ate the trespassers or whoever even came close to the borders of Midnight Mountain. “They must be stopped!” a horse cried out, “Forests and small meadows are no places for horses, we need wide open spaces.” A wolf named Rufus stepped forward, “As more animals move into the forests there will be less room for us, we all need this land!” Many animals cheered, but some couldn’t agree. “Once we do take over the mountain, how will we divide it amongst ourselves? There’s bound to be more fights over who owns what.” Mewed the ocelot. This caused everyone to argue, how would they know how to share their new territory? “ENOUGH!” the bear roared, “Dividing the new territory would be a problem, but until the place is actually ours we shouldn’t worry about it!” Everyone went quiet, so the bear continued, “The Dusks have turned even the dragons against us; the giant beasts that can burn whatever is in their path. Going through the open isn’t an option, and we must stay clear of tunnels and caves. We leave as soon as possible, so they can’t strike us first.”
The next day, everyone brought who they could. The wolf brought his pack, the horse brought his herd, the ocelot brought every animal she could find in the bamboo forest, and the bear brought the rest of the forest animals. After seeing that each animal was ready to go, they all nodded in agreement and headed out. They moved through the forest where no sunlight has ever shined, and crossed the huge desert until they made it to the borders of Midnight Mountain. They carefully, and probably fearfully, trudged through the unfamiliar land. They knew they weren’t welcome here but continued their journey. Miles and miles they traveled, not exactly knowing where the camp was. “Stop!” a brown wolf barked at the large group of animals, “What business do you have in our territory?” Rufus tilted his head and spoke, “We are here to confront the Dusks that are making this place their own. What is your name and what is a wolf like yourself doing here and not with your own kind?” The brown male held his head up in pride; “My name is Storm, I was raised here trained to be as strong as a warrior. This place belongs to my pack and we will treat trespassers as enemies.” Storm’s expression changed and he barred his teeth in a snarl. “What makes you think you have the right to take our land!?” Rufus lowered his head but did not back down. “Midnight Mountain is big enough to hold thousands of animals and yet your pack dares to claim it as their own. We’ll fight if we have to live here!” Storm seemed nervous; every animal from tigers to bears had come to fight them and keeping them all back would be a challenge. Not knowing what else to do he turned tail and fled back to the camp. A large white male rested on top of a tall rock with a red stripe going down his back; his name was Ivory, and he was the king of the great beasts. “Alpha, Superior!” storm cried out. “What is it Storm?” Ivory barked. “The animals are coming to challenge us, all of them!” Standing up, Ivory let out a huge roar and alerted all of the other members.“Dusks, a war is at hand! The animals have come all the way from the forest to take our land; we will fight with all we have!” They all crowded together to speak, several barks and howls could be heard. A dark blue female walked up to Ivory. “None of the pups are old enough to fight, what will we do with them?” she wondered. “Nothing; you all aren’t staying here. I want all the mothers to leave this mountain with the pups the first chance they get. This camp is full of rock walls and dead-end caves; if it were attacked then there is no escape.” With that, Ivory jump off of the rock and lead the pack out of camp to meet their enemies in war.
“Here they come!” The bear shouted as they stood only a few feet away from an army of Dusks. “Attack!” Rufus snarled and all the animals charged. Ivory thought he would be able to take them, but he had thought wrong. The animals were fighting the young, weak ones first, and ambushed the experienced fighters. Horses and deer kicked, rammed, and trampled their enemies. Tigers and bears crushed the poor creatures. Wolves, leopards, badgers and foxes took down the Dusks by their necks. “They’re outnumbering us, we have to leave!” Storm whined to his alpha. Hesitating, Ivory took a good look at the battle field. Many members of their pack were being slain and if they risked any more, they would be wiped out. “Retreat!” he roared, before running off into the forest as the others scattered, only hoping that they would make it out safely. The male dusk ran as fast as his legs would take him through the forest, through mountains, across lakes….through the desert. Ivory had made his way through the forest that seemed completely new to him, the grass was thick and shaped like leaves, the air was humid, all the birds sported long, exaggerated tail feathers, and had wondrous colors, and the trees were tall green pillars. He moved through the meadow full of tall grass and flowers, and walked around a lake that’s surface reflected the moon. Tired of his journey, Ivory settled down by the lake. His home was lost.
Chapter 1: Sunrise
“Mom, mom, can I go play now, please?” “Sorry Snake, but we don’t have anyone to watch you and I don’t want you wandering too far.” Snake bowed his head in disappointment and padded out of the den. “I don’t want you leaving camp either!” ,his mother yelled out to him. The pup huffed and just sat down, obviously frustrated about his lack of freedom; he didn't like staying home and waiting for someone to return, he wanted to be able to go places on his own without anyone watching over him constantly telling him to ‘not do this’, ‘stop doing that’ or ‘don’t go there’. The sound of familiar barking reached his ear; that was the sound of the patrol coming back. Soon, Leon, Snake’s father and the alpha, came home with other members of the pack in tow. “Dad! You’ll play right?” Snake barked. “Sorry, but no; I don’t have the time…” Snake stuck out his tongue and groaned; when was he ever not busy!? “Excuse me, Leon. I’d be willing to spend time with him if you’re busy.” A white wolf said. “Ivory!” Snake rushed over to him, “You’ll really take me?” “Of course, if your father is ok with it.” Leon just smiled as Ivory look at him for an answer. “It’s alright, you can take him.” The young prince smiled with joy and ran off into the forest, causing Ivory to chuckle. “Don’t stray too far!” He yelled after him as he calmly followed. Snake surprisingly waited for him to catch up before continuing; he usually didn’t like company, but with Ivory he didn’t mind, he was pretty much the only friend he had. “So what did you have in mind this morning?” the white male asked. “Umm…” Snake had to think for a moment; “Teach me how to climb trees!” h exclaimed as he pawed at a nearby trunk. “Alright, but you need something smaller to practice on. Show me how you climb with that stump over there.” Said Ivory as he motioned at the tree stump not too far away. It wasn’t big but it was taller that Snake so it had to do. The pup walked over to the stump and simply just launched himself at it, trying to pull himself up but failing miserably. “Well…I don’t think your technique is working…” his friend said, causing him to pout. “You need to latch onto the tree and move as if you were crawling. Try changing your claws.” Snake titled his head slightly then remembered what he meant; he could change his claws to that of a cat so he could dig them into the tree! Not wasting any time he sheathed the canine claws he had grown to know and unsheathed his feline claws; it felt weird to him because they were thin and sharper, but he shrugged it off. He tried again, this time, using his claws to pull himself up. He did it, he actually climbed! Snake held his head up in pride and stood proudly on the stump. “You still need more practice before you climb a real tree.” Said his mentor, which made him growl in frustration. “Let’s head back home before anyone wonders where we are.” Ivory walked ahead this time, occasionally looking back to make sure that Snake was actually following. They padded through the forest and into camp; everyone was resting at this point except for Frost, who was tending to the sick and injured wolves. Snake said goodbye to Ivory before going off to meet his father, and Ivory left to the healer’s den to talk to Frost. “How did today go?” she asked. “Good, he wanted me to teach him how to climb; it went pretty well.”
